  • The board recognized the following Lake View High School students, who won gold medals at the FCCLA National Leadership Meeting for their "Focus on the Children" project: Tara Byrd, Cindy Crisp, and Rachel Guenat.
  • There was no public comment.
  • Minutes of the August 6, 2002 regular meeting were approved.
  • On the consent agenda, the following items were approved:
    • Joining the MBIA Municipal Investors Service Corporation Texas CLASS Investment Pool-
      to diversify the district's portfolio (interest is compounded daily)
    • Clearing and Grubbing Services for Southwest Elementary School (Darnell-Dickson Construction,
      Inc. was low bid.)
    • Resolution to participate in Houston-Galveston Area Council Cooperative Purchasing Program
    • Resolution to participate in Region IV ESC Texas Cooperative Purchasing Cooperative
    • Resolution to participate in Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
    • Resolution to participate in Region IX, XI, XIV, and XV Cooperative Purchasing Program
    • Purchasing property for Building Trades Project House-property is located at 4949 Bermuda
    • PDAS Certified Appraisers for the 2002-03 school year
    • Ratifying Administration's Action in Sale of Properties
    • Cash Donation from Betty Williams to Reagan Elementary library
    • Terry Bader as SAISD Representative for the Concho Valley Council of Governments' General Assembly Member and Executive Committee Member
    • District Employee recommendations for 2002-03 school year
  • On the action agenda, the following items were approved:
    • Health Plan Re-Insurance and Life/AD&D Insurance Provider-Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada
    • Setting a General Prevailing Wage for the Southwest Elementary Project-for vendors to use in preparing bids
    • Authorizing Establishment of a Facilities Advisory Task Force-to be made of employees, citizens, and parents to study changes, needs, and funding sources related to possible school closures. Dr. Pugh will be responsible for the formation of the
