Updated: Information Regarding Boil Water Notice

UPDATE 2:45 p.m. 9/13/2018 - The boil water notice has been lifted. According to information on the City of San Angelo's website, the public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of September 13, 2018, 2:00pm.
We are aware of the city’s boil water alert as a result of a large water main break. We are currently working to stage bottled water at athletic events and campuses. Students and staff are encouraged to bring bottled water with them to school tomorrow. Water fountains will be shut off at all campuses.
Wednesday's cafeteria menu has changed to pizza, corn, green beans, fruit, and milk. No water will be used for food preparation.
Thursday's Elementary lunch menu has changed to Corn Dog or Breaded Chicken Cutlet, Hot Roll, Pinto Beans, Mixed Vegetables, Fruit, and Milk. The Middle School menu will be Corn Dog or Chicken Nuggets, Hot Roll, California Vegetables, Banana, and Milk. The High School menu will be Corn Dog or Chicken Nuggets, Hot Roll, Country Trio Vegetable Blend, Banana, and Milk or Juice.
The Child Nutrition department has provided the following information about dishwashing procedures:
"First, we are boiling pots of water for 2 minutes at a roaring boil, then turning them off to cool to the appropriate temperature for the sink they are distributing the water into. We use 3 compartment sinks. This boiled water is cooled and soap added for compartment 1, hot water for rinse in compartment 2, and in compartment 3, boiled water is cooled down and the appropriate ratio of bleach added for sanitizing rinse (this is also checked with a chlorine strip for the right balance). Additionally, during this time we are not using washable trays. Instead we are serving on our disposable trays. We are always happy to answer any questions.
