Teachers Receive Rewards from Sam's Club
December 4, 2015
Sam's Club recently rewarded teachers at Bowie Elementary School with $50 gift cards as part of its Teacher Rewards program. Recipients of the gift cards were chosen through a random drawing of all eligible teachers at the school. The cards may be used by the teachers to purchase much-needed classroom supplies and nutritional snacks for their students.
It’s estimated that educators spend approximately $1000 out of their own pockets each year to ensure their students have the supplies they need to learn. The Teacher Rewards program helps teachers offset those costs. Nationally, Walmart and Sam's Club® locations are awarding more than 90,000 educators with $50 rewards cards, infusing schools across America with $4.5 million.
This is the sixth year Walmart and Sam's Club® are supporting educators through Teacher Rewards, as part of the company’s ongoing support of local education initiatives. Locally, Bowie Elementary was selected as the recipient school for this year's rewards. Sam's Club Marketing Coordinator Charlotte Anderson said that "[Bowie Principal] Ms. Stuart is a great leader and works with a phenomenal team of teachers that are dedicated to enriching the lives of each and every one of their students."
