SAISD Staff Recognized at District Celebration

May 1, 2018

SAISD faculty, staff, and administrators gathered Monday morning at San Angelo Stadium for a district-wide celebration honoring staff for their service and contributions to the district.

The celebration included recognition of employees for benchmark years of service. All staff members with at least 5 years of service to San Angelo ISD were recognized. Service pins were given for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of continuous service to SAISD.

Employees celebrating more than 25 years of service were called by name and presented with their pins, while those with less than 25 years were were asked to stand as a group and be recognized. Honorees with less than 25 years of service received their pins later at their home campuses.

Three staff members have worked for SAISD for more than 40 years, including custodian Rosita Reyna who was recognized for 43 years of service with the district.

Retiring staff members were also honored during the event. Retirees received either a certificate, a clock, or a watch depending on their years of service to the district. Assistant superintendent Matt Kimball stated that these staff members represented more than 1000 years of combined service.

Also recognized during the event were three substitute teachers of the year. Terry Rogers was named as Elementary Substitute of the Year. Shaheena Anene was named as Middle School Substitute of the Year. And Peter Grace was named as High School Substitute of the Year. The three individuals were chosen by campus staff for their hard work, reliability, trustworthiness, and dedication.

Other highlights of the ceremony included a presentation of colors by ROTC instructors, pledges and National Anthem led by SAISD staff members, and end-of-year videos highlighting photos of students and staff from the past school year.
