The Central High School Mighty Bobcat Band has completed another successful marching competition season. The Bobcat band surpassed previous years' awards in both number and average scores per judging panels at every event. The 350 member band entertained audiences at football games, marching competition events, and parades - including a trip to the nation’s capital to open the National Memorial Day Parade last May.
Awards won by the Bobcat band so far this year include:

Outstanding drum line
Overall Outstanding Grand Champion band

14th place out of 36 bands
Excellent rating from all caption judges
Abilene Wylie Battle of Champions
1st division superior ratings all judges

UIL Regional competition

1st step to the UIL overall yearly sweepstakes award
U.S Bands regional competition, Coppell HS

4th place overall band
2 points behind the top three bands from the large metroplex schools and three of the best bands in the country.

The Bobcat band's full schedule will continue through the winter and spring with competitions, concerts and events. The Texas Music Educators Association, All-Region band auditions will be held the second week of December. This is the first stepping stone for students to advance with the hopes of making the Texas All-State band.
The band will perform in the San Angelo Veteran’s Day parade on Saturday, November 11, and the Wounded Warriors parade celebrating and honoring all veterans on Thursday, December 7.
The Central band will be presented in a Holiday Christmas concert on Sunday, December 10 at the River stage. This concert is the culminating event for the Bobcat band and Central High School's "Toys for Tots" collection drive. The concert will begin at 3:00pm.
Band director Joey Ashbrook expressed his appreciation for all of the support the band has received.
