Today, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that San Angelo ISD has once again achieved specific transparency goals through the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program. Transparency Stars recognizes local government entities that provide easy online access to important financial data. After receiving an initial star for Traditional Finances, the district has now received their second star in the area of Debt Transparency for their outstanding efforts in making their Debt Services spending and revenue data available in clear and easy to read formats.
“San Angelo ISD continues to show a true commitment to their local and Texas taxpayers. This effort achieves the goals set by my office’s Transparency Stars program,” Hegar said. “I am pleased to award San Angelo their SECOND star in the new program for its accomplishments.”
Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Jeff Bright states, “Our board gives us the direction they would like to see us go in. It is our job to meet or exceed their expectations and we have a great group of employees that make all of this happen. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts.”
The Comptroller’s office launched the Transparency Stars program in March to recognize cities, counties and school districts making important strides to greater government transparency. San Angelo ISD is in the company of a small, select group of school districts in the state to achieve the new recognitions.
